Indigo Counselling and Psychotherapy Camberwell, South London near Elephant and Castle

'Connection is why we're here; it is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives' - Brené Brown

Each person's experience is different, but generally, you might seek therapy when there is something in your life you want to change and you need to explore your thoughts and feelings in more depth.

We might need to work together for a relatively brief period - e.g. 6, 12 or 18 weeks (short term counselling); however, as the sessions progress we could find that much more needs to be looked at. In which case we might work for a year, two years or even longer than that (psychotherapy).

My role is not necessarily to tell you what to do; instead, I can encourage you to talk through the problem and - looking at it from multiple perspectives - we might uncover the root causes and find solutions that are specific to you.

How can Counselling or Psychotherapy Help?

It can be important for you to speak in a safe, confidential environment and I can offer you the freedom to explore what you need, support you to find your own understanding of your problems and offer tools to help you work through them on your own.

This is a journey that takes time and consistency for it to be effective, as a result, the clients with whom I work, choose to have regular, weekly sessions. Eventually, you can find that the process allows for increased self-understanding.

The work could also help you to appreciate another person's point of view more fully, enabling greater clarity around how you interpret words or actions of others.

Client Testimonial
"Immediately I felt a rapport with Haydn, it sounds silly but just knowing he was a gay man put me at ease. I knew that Haydn's background was varied and he explained to me that the sessions could incorporate psychodynamic work.......we could try different things such as art therapy, chair work and even some good old-fashioned talking"

"Haydn used the analogy of the new me as being like a new jacket- when you first wear it, perhaps the sleeves are a bit stiff and it doesn't quite fit right, but over time, it becomes supple and bends and before you know it, you don't even realise you're wearing it. I never thought I would be able to live a life sober and mentally stable, but almost two years later and my jacket fits like a glove"
